
The Miami-Dade Assistive Technology Awareness Partners (M-DATAP) announces the 1st annual Assistive Technology Awareness Day event to be held on February 9 & 10, 2007 at the following locations:

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of the capability of assistive technology to empower, educate and include persons with disabilities in all aspects of life. This event will include a variety of presentations, exhibits, vendor demonstrations, community agency demonstrations and recreational activities. It will be open to the public and all persons interested in learning more about assistive technology are encouraged to attend.
The M-DATAP will consider proposals for 50 minute presentations that demonstrate or describe successful practical applications of assistive technology with persons with disabilities, innovations in research or development, and open forums for discussion. Priority will be given to applicants representing the South Florida community.
Not-for-profit community agencies are encouraged to submit proposals for exhibitions of the current use of assistive technology within the community. These exhibits may take the form of an informational booth, a live demonstration or an outdoor activity with a group of participants (50 minutes in length).
In addition, vendors of assistive technology devices/products/software may submit proposals for exhibit space and/or a 50 minute product demonstration/presentation. Priority will be given to South Florida vendors or those vendors outside South Florida with a local representative.
Proposal Forms must be completely filled out and submitted via web or mailed. Proposals must be received on or before November 9, 2006.
Confirmation of proposal acceptance/declination and confirmation of specific date, time, and location will be mailed by December 8, 2006.
